Welcome Party

Not only one party was on the schedule of the first competition day! The Opening Ceremony in all its glamour the evening before was a guarantee for a great party-week to be coming - and here we are, Monday night and the crowd's already rockin' the house! Most of the people here in Val di Sole caught a bad flue and had to stay at home, those who had not get affected until now tried to block the bacteria with a helluva lot of antibiotics. Nevertheless, the epidemic couldn't prevent us from partying. The Welcome Party in the Disco Arzimpò started in typical Italian style featuring Italian Disco music, but the further the evening grew the more entertaining it became. Finally we ended up shaking to 70ies music together with only a few of the pro riders such as Nicola Thost, Cecile Plancherel - the real cybercasting addicts know that name already, Cecile is always partying in the first row - Ariane Glaus, Tommy Marsh or Mikael Berg. That was a pity, at a Welcome Party we are used to have at least 80 % of the active snowboarders showing up, but this was the result of the exhausting two weeks of competition beforehand, both the European Champs in Leysin as well as the Lords of the Boards in Fieberbrunn saw all the riders participating and preparing for the World Championships here in Val di Sole! The show of the Lap Dance Girls was a bit strange since the girls did in no way match the classical picture of table-dance girls: one was a quite well developed feminine woman whereas the other one had muscles like a body-builder. I found that quite impressive, but girls out there, don't be desperate: most of the men find a woman with a six-pack not that attractive, some even say it would be like hugging a man...
